PHOENIX – The Arizona State Senate voted down a controversial bill yesterday that could have removed thousands of voters from the state’s permanent early ballot mailing list. Poder Latinx members and volunteers made more than 45,000 calls in Maricopa County, connecting voters directly to the Governor’s office or their legislator to voice concerns that these bills encouraged voter suppression.

Justice Prevailed in George Floyd’s Murder

Poder Latinx released the following statement regarding the guilty verdict on all counts of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin in his trial for the murder of George Floyd. Floyd was a 46-year-old Minneapolis resident who was killed when in his capacity as a police officer, Chauvin pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck while he was face-down on the ground in handcuffs.
