Poder Latinx released the following statement regarding the murder of eight people, six of whom were Asian women, in Georgia. This statement is attributed to Susi Durán, Georgia state director for Poder Latinx.
"We stand in solidarity with the AAPI community as we witness a cruel manifestation of white supremacy and misogyny that took the lives of eight people at three massage parlors in Acworth and Atlanta yesterday. Seven of the eight victims were women, and six were Asian. The truth is that our country is no stranger to anti-Asian discrimination, hate, or violence. Donald Trump further fanned these flames by blaming Asians for the COVID-19 pandemic in the past year, effectively inciting violent and hateful actions towards Asian frontline workers, business owners, and community members. We grieve for the victims and their loved ones. We condemn these acts of racial, gendered violence against the Asian community, and we stand firm in working towards dismantling white supremacy."
