Discover Our Story
In the summer of 2019, passionate and dedicated community advocates came together to address a pressing need within the Latino community. The political landscape had shifted dramatically in the wake of the 2016 elections, highlighting the urgency for a new approach to community engagement and political empowerment. They envisioned an inclusive organization that would mobilize the Latinx community to be active players in democracy and foster a new generation of young leaders equipped to drive meaningful change.
Poder Latinx was born out of that desire to build political power for Latinos nationwide, using innovative strategies and tools that resonated with the youth. The Poder Latinx founders led an integrated voter engagement organization where all aspects of voter engagement, issue-based campaigns, leadership development, voting reform, and narrative change form a continuous cycle of political consciousness. This consciousness equips the Latinx community to become agents of change now. And that’s precisely what they did and we continue to do today.
A Brief History
Poder Latinx was born out of that desire to build political power for Latinos nationwide, using innovative strategies and tools that resonated with the youth. The Poder Latinx founders led an integrated voter engagement organization where all aspects of voter engagement, issue-based campaigns, leadership development, voting reform, and narrative change form a continuous cycle of political consciousness. This consciousness equips the Latinx community to become agents of change now. And that’s precisely what they did. The initial work started in Florida, with a small staff providing voting rights information, canvassing, and voter registration, and has grown to a nationwide team in Arizona, California, Georgia, Texas, and Washington, where we also focus on issue-based education and civic engagement.
