Poder Latinx Urges SRP Ratepayers to Act Now Ahead of Mail Ballot Deadline and Final Days of Early Voting

Phoenix, AZ — With critical deadlines approaching in the upcoming Salt River Project (SRP) Board Special Election, Poder Latinx is urging eligible SRP ratepayers to request their mail-in ballots before the deadline and take advantage of the final days of early voting ahead of Election Day on April 7.

The deadline to request a mail ballot is Friday, March 27, 2026 at 5 p.m., and early voting will continue through April 6, 2026, from 8:30am - 5pm MT from Monday to Friday.  In-person voting is available at the SRP Administration Building in Tempe, 1500 N. Mill Ave., Tempe, AZ 85288. Election Day is April 7, 2026, from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The SRP election plays a critical role in determining who serves on the Board responsible for making decisions that directly impact electricity rates, energy investments, and affordability for more than one million Arizonans.

“Too many SRP ratepayers don’t realize they have a voice in decisions that affect their monthly electricity bills and their family’s well-being,” said Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “With the mail ballot deadline and early voting window closing soon, this is the moment for eligible voters to act. Participating in this election is one of the most direct ways communities can demand fair representation and advocate for more affordable, accountable energy.”

Throughout February and March, Poder Latinx has been canvassing neighborhoods, sharing voter education materials, and speaking directly with SRP ratepayers to ensure they understand how to participate in this unique utility election and the importance of making their voices heard.  This work will continue into early April, right before election day.

“It is surprising that most SRP ratepayers have no idea about this election despite its impact on their energy costs,” said José Flores, EcoPoder Coordinator in Arizona at Poder Latinx. “Every conversation has an opportunity to educate and empower individuals with the information they need to vote. With deadlines fast approaching, we encourage all eligible ratepayers to request their ballots, vote early, or make a plan to vote in person on April 7.”

SRP ratepayers who are homeowners or landowners within SRP’s service territory are eligible to vote. Poder Latinx encourages all eligible voters to act now to ensure their voices are represented in decisions that shape Arizona’s energy future.
