Poder Latinx Rallies Nationwide on May Day for Dignity, Democracy, and Justice for All Workers

NATIONWIDE -  On Wednesday, May 1st, International Workers’ Day, Poder Latinx will join forces with community partners, labor allies, and immigrant rights organizations for a coordinated day of action across seven states. These powerful grassroots events—including rallies, community forums, and lobby days at state legislatures—will demand bold action for workers’ rights, immigration justice, and full participation in our democracy.

From coast to coast, Poder Latinx organizers and volunteers will amplify the stories and demands of Latino working families, immigrant communities, and youth leaders who are calling for fair wages, safe working conditions, a pathway to citizenship, paid family and medical leave, and the protection of voting rights.

Events will take place in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Washington state, with communities showing up in force to say that workers are essential every day—not just in times of crisis—and deserve dignity, protection, and a voice in shaping our future.

“On May Day, we stand in solidarity with workers across the country who continue to power our communities despite facing low wages, dangerous conditions, and political attacks,” said Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “Latino and immigrant workers deserve not only recognition—but rights, protections, and a real seat at the table. That means fighting for a pathway to citizenship, for paid leave, for environmental and economic justice, and for the right to vote without fear. Our communities are rising up on May Day to demand what we’ve always deserved: dignity, justice, and a future where all families can thrive.”

May Day has long served as a global day of resistance, solidarity, and celebration of the labor movement. This year, Poder Latinx is mobilizing in key battleground states to ensure that the voices of Latino and immigrant workers are heard loud and clear—not just on May 1st, but at the ballot box and beyond.
