Poder Latinx to Host Earth Day Events in 6 States to Uplift Environmental Justice and Civic Power
NATIONWIDE - On April 22, 2025, Poder Latinx will join communities across the country in celebrating Earth Day with events in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, and California. These activations will amplify the urgent need for environmental justice, highlight Latino leadership in climate advocacy, and offer hands-on opportunities to take civic action.
Each local event will feature community-centered activities such as storytelling stations, sustainability-themed engagement, and even voter registration —all aimed at mobilizing Latino communities to fight for equitable climate solutions and stronger environmental protections.
“Our communities are on the frontlines of climate change, and we must also be at the forefront of the solutions,” said Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “This Earth Day, we’re showing that environmental justice and civic engagement go hand in hand. Whether it's through voting, organizing, or speaking out, our power as Latinos can shape a more sustainable and just future for all.”
In addition to educational and civic engagement activities, local clean-up events at public parks will also take place to emphasize the importance of direct action in protecting natural spaces. These events will be paired with conversations about the urgent need to use our civic power to defend clean air and water, expand access to renewable energy, and confront today’s challenging environmental policy landscape.
Through these Earth Day events, Poder Latinx will continue building grassroots power and driving the message that climate justice is inseparable from civic participation—and that Latino communities are essential leaders in this movement.
