Poder Latinx Mobilizes Around Immigration Issues
NATIONWIDE- In the wake of President Biden's first 100 days in office, Poder Latinx is launching a week of action supporting immigrant justice across the nation to push the Biden administration and Congress to adopt an action-driven agenda to protect immigrants living in the U.S.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many in the undocumented community continued working on the frontlines, yet this community was denied aid from federal relief programs that have provided a social safety net for many other American families.
See below for events taking place in Arizona, Florida, and digitally across the country and help us uplift the voices of our undocumented Latinx community.

The Senate has the opportunity to bring forth the American Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act this term. The American Dream and Promise Act of 2021 would provide Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and other undocumented youth, TPS holders, and individuals with Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) with an opportunity to obtain permanent legal status and protection from deportation, including 2.3 million undocumented youth and nearly 700,000 DACA recipients. The Farm Workforce Modernization Act would reform the H-2A guest worker program and establish a merit-based visa program designed for the agricultural sector, provide a pathway to legal status for farmworkers, and ensure fair wages and working conditions for all workers.
Poder Latinx will be partnering with organizations across the country to send a clear message to the Biden administration and Congress that we worked to help Biden get elected on the promise of opening up a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.
"For decades, Arizona has been known as an anti-immigrant state or 'ground zero' regarding immigration policy. We have faced attacks on our communities by former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and a slew of anti-immigrant legislation during this time. With the help of community members, we fought and showed that the people's power is bigger than the hatred of those who stand on the wrong side of history. We are excited to join our national team and local organizing partners this week of action where we will highlight the needs of immigrants in Arizona and across the country," said Josue Andonaegui, organizing coordinator for Poder Latinx and DACA recipient.
