Washington, DCPoder Latinx is launching today the first in a series of three dynamic Public Service Announcements (PSAs) featuring La Borinqueña, voiced by Broadway actress Cherry Torres, an animated superhero who’s encouraging eligible voters to participate in the upcoming election. With over 36 million Latinos are estimated to be eligible to vote, this powerful voting bloc holds great influence in this critical electoral period.

Developed in partnership with award-winning graphic novelist,  philanthropist Edgardo Miranda-Rodríguez, whose superhero La Borinqueña stars in this campaign which aims to inspire Latino voter engagement leading up to the election. The first PSA highlights Vote Early Day, urging Latino voters to act now, not later, and make their voices heard to protect the progress their communities deserve.

The second PSA, available next week, celebrates La Borinqueña's inaugural participation in National Latina Civic Engagement Day on November 1st, showcasing the vital role Latinas play in shaping election outcomes — especially in battleground states where the Latino vote could tip the balance. The final PSA will focus on mobilizing voters for the Get Out The Vote (GOTV) push in the final days before the election.

“We are thrilled to collaborate once again with Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez and his superhero La Borinqueña to remind Latinos nationwide of the significant power they possess in shaping our future,” said Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “This campaign is an urgent call about the crucial importance of making our voices heard through our vote, particularly voting early and participating to strengthen our democracy.  As the election draws near, two more PSAs will roll out, reinforcing the message that every vote counts and that the Latino community has the potential to create a significant impact on the nation’s future.”

This PSA series marks the third successful collaboration between Poder Latinx and Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguz, leveraging the beloved superhero La Borinqueña to drive civic engagement among millions of eligible Latino voters, particularly Puerto Ricans living in the continental U.S., a decisive force in Latino voting power. The campaign will be shared across various platforms, including social media and YouTube, ensuring maximum reach and inspiring more Latinos to take part in the democratic process.

“This presidential election will require all Latinos eligible and registered to vote to exercise their superpower to elect our next U.S. president. Since 1975 we have had the right to vote, a right that we fought to attain. I am voting for a better future for my family. I am voting because it's my responsibility to ensure that our next president has our interests and our country's interest at heart," expressed Edgardo Miranda-Rodríguez, creator of La Borinqueña.
