ATLANTA, GA - This week, Atlanta drivers are seeing a powerful new billboard encouraging Georgians to “vote their values.” The billboard, located on Jonesboro Road, one half mile south of I-285, is sponsored by Family Values @Work Action and Poder Latinx. The groups are working together to drive turnout among Latinx voters concerned about family-friendly policies including affordable child care, paid family leave, and increased support for elder care. The billboard will run until Election Day, Nov. 5, directing audiences to the organization’s website, www.poderlatinx.org, where audiences can find crucial details about voting and what they’ll find on their ballot.

The full billboard message reads: Vote your values! Because the care your family deserves is a priority!

“Paid leave, affordable child care, and sustainable long-term care support for older adults and people with disabilities aren't just nice-to-haves, they're essential. Our Atlanta billboard drives home the message that care can't wait,” said Carol Joyner, Executive Director of Family Values @Work Action. “Families deserve the support they need to thrive, and it's clear that care is on the ballot this year. Family Values @Work Action is proud to join Poder Latinx in leading this charge. We encourage voters to join us in electing leaders who will support an economy that works for all of us.”

"Access to paid leave and affordable child care is not a privilege—it’s a fundamental right that empowers Latino families in Atlanta to thrive without compromising their livelihoods. Our community, which works tirelessly to support this city’s growth and prosperity, deserves the security that comes from knowing they can care for their children and provide for their families. This billboard is a direct call to action, reminding voters of the importance of these issues in our daily lives. As we approach this election, we urge the Latino community to support leaders who understand the unique challenges we face. This is about building a future where every Latino family in Atlanta can flourish with dignity, respect, and the support they deserve," said Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx.

The care economy is a highly motivating issue for voters in battleground states, including Georgia. Strong majorities of Democrats (74%), young voters of color (56%), and Millennial and Gen Z low turnout voters (55%) are much more likely to vote for a candidate who will address the problems of affordable child care, total abortion bans, and the lack of national paid leave for their families. This also applies to half of suburban women (50%) and a plurality of younger Independents (48%) and Independent women (45%).

Family Values@Work Action and Poder Latinx are also sponsoring billboards in Arizona, and additional sponsoring organizations are lifting up care as a voting priority in billboards in Michigan and New York later this month.

Poder Latinx is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the Latinx community through voter registration, civic education, and leadership development. Our mission is to foster active participation and leadership within the Latinx community to ensure a better future for all.

Family Values @ Work Action works in partnership with their state coalitions to build political power among historically disenfranchised voters in the movement for care and caregiving and other economic security issues through public education and civic engagement strategies.
