Poder Latinx is seeking volunteers to help mobilize voters to participate in the Salt River Project (SRP) special election in Arizona
Contact: Mynellies Negrón, (703) 585-6727
Phoenix, AZ - Poder Latinx is reaching out to local and national community members who would like to volunteer their time to remotely connect via a phone bank with potential voters residing in districts 3, 5, 7, and 9 of the Salt River Project (SRP) and mobilize them to vote in the special election scheduled for April 2nd.
This election will elect new members to the SRP board of directors. The SRP has a significant impact in Arizona, not only because they determine the costs and quality of water and electricity services but also because of the impact the expansion of these services may have on the already strained environment.
The SRP is divided into two areas: the Association and the District, and each has positions available for board representatives whose decisions would affect more than a million residents in various key cities, such as Phoenix and Tempe, among others in Maricopa County.
Volunteers must be individuals over 16 years old, bilingual, and available from 5pm to 7pm MST to make these phone contacts with voters, with the goal that more Latinos go to the polls. Poder Latinx will provide training before the phone bank begins and tools to facilitate communication with the community. This volunteer work is unpaid but can be validated as community service hours.
Interested individuals should register through this link, and a Poder Latinx representative will reach out for the next steps. This call reflects Poder Latinx's commitment to empowering the Latino community to be actively involved in the democratic processes of our communities and together build the present and future we desire for our families.
