Poder Latinx: Americans Need Relief at Home, Not Another War Abroad
WASHINGTON, DC — As families across the country struggle with rising costs of living and economic uncertainty, Poder Latinx urges national leaders to reject escalation toward war with Iran and instead focus on delivering relief, stability, and opportunity for people here at home.
The following Statement can be attributed to Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx:
“Americans do not want war with Iran. Working families are already being stretched thin, forced to make impossible choices between paying for health care, housing, utilities, or putting food on the table. Escalating conflict abroad risks diverting attention and resources away from the urgent investments our communities need to live with stability and dignity.
Families want leaders to prioritize access to affordable health care, lower the cost of prescription medicines, strengthen public schools, and ensure safe and affordable housing. They want relief from rising utility bills and real solutions that lower the cost of living, not policies that deepen instability or hardship.
Our communities also deserve safety and dignity at home. That means ending harmful raids and profiling by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, protecting civil rights, and ensuring every eligible voter can participate freely and without intimidation or barriers.
This is a moment for our nation’s leaders to focus on the real needs of its people. Our government must invest in the health, safety, and economic security of families, not in another war.”
