Poder Latinx Celebrates Latina Power on National Latina Civic Engagement Day

NATIONWIDE- For the third year in a row, Poder Latinx will celebrate National Latina Civic Engagement Day on Tuesday, November 1st, to encourage Latinas across the United States to vote. This event was inspired by research that Latinas are quickly becoming a key voting bloc within the Latinx electorate in the United States, paired with a general lack of Latinx political representation nationwide. This year, the event will center around how our political well-being depends on our participation in midterm elections while also highlighting the increased number of Latinas working as canvassers, field operatives, volunteers, and more. We see the difference they are making daily as our own Poder Latinx team in Florida has an entire canvassing team of Latinas.

The following statement is attributed to Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx:

“Today we celebrate the power that Latinas bring to the table in civic engagement. Latinas are quickly becoming key players in this nation’s democracy, and our voices must be heard in these critical midterm elections. For the third year in a row, Poder Latinx is excited to launch National Latina Civic Engagement Day to encourage Latinas across the country to vote in all elections. Latinas are quickly becoming a key voting bloc in the United States, yet we face a general lack of Latinx political representation nationwide. This year, we are encouraging Latinas in AZ, FL, GA, and WA to activate their superpower and encourage their family members to make sure their voices are heard at the ballot box on Tuesday, November 8, and remind their friends to get to the polls.”
