Poder Latinx Urges Voters to Cast their Ballot During Vote Early Day

NATIONWIDE - Today, Poder Latinx is celebrating Early Vote Day with several festivities and civic engagement events to encourage community members in Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and Washington to vote early ahead of the upcoming November elections. Vote Early Day, of which Poder Latinx is a proud founding partner, is a civic holiday and a nonpartisan movement of nonprofits, election administrators, businesses, media companies, and creatives that work to ensure all Americans have the tools to vote early. In the previous election, voters of color were able to participate in voting at record-breaking rates by casting their ballots early. Despite anti-voting legislation designed to reduce the impact of votes by people of color, Poder Latinx is fighting back with initiatives to encourage more people to vote.

The following statement is attributed to Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx.

“At Poder Latinx, our main focus is preparing the Latinx community to make informed decisions when voting. We specifically reach out to Spanish-speaking voters, who are often not as properly engaged, to motivate them to participate in our elections. Midterms historically have low voter turnout rates, but we are doing our part to increase that number for the Latinx community. Vote Early Day is an important reminder that voters don’t have to wait until Election Day to cast a ballot. Waiting until the last day can create unforeseen circumstances, last-minute emergencies, and other time conflicts that create barriers to voting your voice and usando el poder de tu voto.”
