“Tierra Mía” Docuseries Expands, Brings New Stories of Latino Communities Fighting Climate Change
The Latino-focused “Tierra Mía” video series grows with a new partner and a new set of stories. The first episode highlights how Latinos are addressing climate change in New York.
NEW YORK — Today, El Tiempo Latino, Climate Power En Acción and Poder Latinx announced the expansion of the acclaimed video series “Tierra Mía”, a storytelling initiative showcasing compelling stories of how Latinos across the country are leading climate solutions and embracing clean energy to transform their communities.
The announcement comes with a brand new episode, now available online, that spotlights stories from New York, where climate change is intensifying threats—including flooding, sea level rise and forced displacement—and reveals how the community is coming together to address these challenges and build a better, healthier, more climate-resilient future.
This expanded partnership builds on the original “Tierra Mía” series launched by Climate Power En Acción and El Tiempo Latino in 2024, shifting its focus from the benefits of historic climate investments made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act to the threats posed by climate rollbacks and disinformation, spotlighting how cuts to clean energy funding and weakened protections are directly harming Latino communities.
“At a time when policy shifts are eroding historic climate progress, such as by rolling back environmental protections and eliminating billions of federal funds for clean energy, this series brings eye-opening stories of how these cuts directly affect Latino communities across the country,” said Antonieta Cádiz, Executive Director of Climate Power En Acción. “But perhaps most importantly, with so much climate disinformation circulating, this series provides an intimate view into the experiences of Latinos on the frontlines of climate change, showing how embracing clean energy is not just an environmental solution, it’s a way for Latino families to fight back and pioneer change.”
Building on the success of the first installment, this new chapter will include three episodes, with the other two focusing on Latino communities in Arizona and California. They will be released in early 2026.
“This episode arrives at a critical moment. “Tierra Mía” highlights how Latino-led initiatives are already driving tangible solutions to the climate crisis, yet cuts to the Inflation Reduction Act could threaten this important work. We are proud to continue advancing this project and reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that protect and empower our communities,” said Rafael Ulloa, Deputy Publisher at Tiempo Company.
Each episode of the video series will be available on Tiempo Latino’s YouTube channel. “Tierra Mía” will publish content focused on the opportunities and resources available to Latinos in the face of climate change.
“We are seeing more clearly and at a faster rate how climate change is impacting our health, cost of living, jobs, and safety. Rampant climate disinformation, especially in Spanish, has only deepened the disconnect between everyday struggles and the urgent need for climate action,” said Adonías Arévalo, Chief of Staff at Poder Latinx. “‘Tierra Mía’ helps close that gap by making the story of climate change personal and relatable, showing how investments in clean energy and sustainable solutions are already improving the lives of people like you and me. At Poder Latinx, we know that when Latino communities see themselves reflected in these stories, we can build lasting support for climate justice that protects our families and our future.”
