Poder Latinx Looks At 2023 State of the Union with Hope for Change

NATIONWIDE - This year marks the 3rd State of the Union Address delivered by President Joe. Biden, in which he outlined some of his most significant accomplishments and made various commitments on work he and his administration will be working on in the coming year. Among the accomplishments listed, the president expressed his excitement to have overseen the largest increase in job creation during a presidential administration, the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, as well as the passage of gun safety legislation.

Poder Latinx has released the following statement on the 2023 State of the Union:

“President Biden outlined some of his most significant accomplishments in his 3rd State of the Union address and encouraged lawmakers to focus on doing more on various issues, including many that are heavily impacting the Latinx community. Since last year’s address, Congress successfully passed the Inflation Reduction Act which is making significant investments in slashing climate pollution and creating clean energy jobs, which President Biden applauded and said that his team will continue to do more on this subject. The president also asked that Congress work with him to secure the border and create protections for DACA recipients, TPS recipients, farm workers, and essential workers, signaling that he will be pressuring Congress to do something on immigration this year. And along with the 30th anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act earlier this week, President Biden called on Congress to expand paid leave benefits and affordable childcare for all Americans.

These commitments to continue working on the top issues impacting the Latinx community are commendable, and Poder Latinx looks forward to continuing to work with and push the Biden Administration to do more for our community,” said Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx.
