Poder Latinx Launches Poderosas Fellowship Application

NATIONWIDE - Poder Latinx is pleased to announce the official launch of the Poderosas fellowship application and is seeking motivated Latinas ages 18-35 ready to make a difference in their local communities. The 2023 cohort will focus on building on the momentum from the 2022 elections and looking ahead to the 2024 elections. Since launching the inaugural cohort in 2020, the Poderosas fellowship has connected Latinas to career pathways in civic engagement and social justice advocacy spaces through issue-based campaigns, the Poderosas Legislative Summit, and more.

Poder Latinx has released the following statement on the 2023 Poderosas fellowship:

“Latinas are a growing force across the country and have had a decisive impact on the previous two elections. The Poderosas fellowship is a program carefully crafted by Latinas for Latinas to fill gaps within civic engagement spaces. Opportunities like this intended for young Latinas are few and far between, so with that in mind, we curated a curriculum in which the Poderosas can extract as much knowledge as possible to empower and engage the Latinx community while building their own personal networks of like-minded jefas. Our stories and experiences matter and I am excited about the incoming cohort. I am urging everyone to share this opportunity with their networks so we can keep building up the next generation of Latina leaders!” said Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx.

To apply, please visit poderlatinx.org/poderosas. Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2023.

About the Poderosas Fellowship

The Poderosas fellowship is a part of Poder Latinx's community empowerment programs designed to provide leadership development and inspire Latinas across key electoral states to use civic engagement tools to increase voter participation in their communities. Our vision is for every Poderosa fellow to have the necessary tools to educate and engage their local communities to help close the gap in civic participation and increase the political representation of Latinxs in the U.S.

The 2023 cohort will launch this network primarily in Arizona, Washington, Georgia, Florida, Washington DC/Virginia, and North Carolina. We will also consider applications from Texas, California, Nevada, Wisconsin, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota. The fellowship will kick off in late March and end in early December 2023.

All the Poderosas Fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend for their time
