Poder Latinx Commends President Biden’s Commitment to Working Families with 2024 Budget Priorities

NATIONWIDE- Earlier today President Biden announced his proposed budget for fiscal year 2024 including expanded investments on clean energy, child care, paid leave, strengthening social security, raising the corporate tax rate, and making the immigration system more humane.

The following statement is attributed to Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx,

“With President Biden’s release of the 2024 budget, Poder Latinx recognizes the administration’s efforts to improve the lives of working families over corporate interests, especially its strong provisions for the environment, and paid leave and child care. The administration has acted on many of their previous promises and continues delivering for the Latinx community, and we can’t wait to see how this budget will improve the lives of our community. We will, however, continue pushing the administration to create a more efficient pathway to citizenship for our community and to prioritize this rather than being overshadowed by border security, or as historically has been the case, using this issue as the negotiation token with House Republicans. Our community can’t wait for environmental justice, paid leave, child care, and a pathway to citizenship, and this budget shows that President Biden is hearing our call. We look forward to working together with the administration and members of Congress to get this budget and these items passed next year.”
