Poder Latinx Launches Website on Earth Day to Help Communities Understand and Take Action on Rising Energy Costs
Bilingual Platform Connects Energy Affordability to Civic Engagement Across Seven States
NATIONWIDE — To celebrate Earth Day 2026, Poder Latinx today announced the launch of its new EcoPoder website, a bilingual digital hub designed to help communities understand, navigate, and take action on rising energy costs and environmental challenges. The platform is available in English and in Spanish, serving as an accessible, community-centered resource focused on energy affordability and climate justice, and the One Hot Summer / ¡Qué Calor! campaign -a year-round initiative designed to transform rising energy costs into community action and civic engagement.
EcoPoder provides critical tools and information for communities across Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Washington, equipping residents with the knowledge needed to better understand their energy bills, reduce costs, and engage in decisions that shape their energy future.
“Too often, conversations about climate and energy feel distant from people’s daily lives, but our communities are living these realities every month when the energy bill arrives,” said Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “EcoPoder —and our energy affordability campaign, ‘One Hot Summer / ¡Qué Calor!’— were designed to close that gap, giving families clear, accessible information and practical tools to understand their costs, make informed decisions, and take action. When people can see how these issues affect their own households, they are better equipped to raise their voices and shape the policies that impact their communities.”
At the center of the platform is an interactive energy burden calculator, which allows users to measure how much of their income is going toward energy costs, helping make visible the real financial strain many families experience.
Beyond the calculator, EcoPoder offers a range of features designed to inform and empower users, including:
Energy bill education tools that break down complex utility charges
State-specific resources and data tailored to local communities
Information on Public Service Commissions and decision-makers
Opportunities for civic engagement, including advocacy and community action
By connecting rising energy costs to broader environmental and climate challenges, EcoPoder helps communities see energy affordability as a key part of climate justice—and provides clear pathways to take action.
