Poder Latinx Denounces Trump’s First 100 Days: A Direct Assault on Latino, Immigrant Families, and Our Democracy

Washington, DC — As President Trump marks 100 days back in office, Poder Latinx strongly condemns the wave of dangerous policies and executive actions that have already upended the lives of millions of Latino and immigrant families across the country. In just over three months, this administration has dismantled decades of progress—overreaching its executive power to impose harmful immigration crackdowns, weaken public services, and erase the very foundations of diversity, equity, inclusion, and civil rights.

“Let’s be clear: the first 100 days of Trump’s second term have been an all-out attack on our families, our future, and our democracy,” said Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “Latino and immigrant communities have fought for decades to advance policies rooted in dignity, opportunity, and justice. In just a few months, this administration has tried to erase that progress.

From gutting humanitarian protections and reviving mass deportation tactics to undermining access to health care, education, and environmental safeguards, this administration has shown clear hostility toward the very communities that power our nation’s economy and cultural vibrancy. Programs that once supported working families and opened doors for millions of persons, have been slashed or targeted. Meanwhile, critical climate protections are being rolled back, even as Latino and other communities of color disproportionately bear the brunt of pollution, extreme heat, and natural disasters.

Perhaps most concerning of all, Trump’s return has been marked by blatant attacks on our democracy. He has sought to suppress the right to vote, discredit the free press, and silence dissent—threatening the foundations of civic participation, especially for communities of color.

But we will not back down. We are organizing, we are mobilizing, and we will stand up for our rights—at the ballot box, in our neighborhoods, and across the country. We will uplift leaders who are committed to restoring justice, equity, and opportunity—not serving the mega-wealthy elite. Our voices will not be silenced.”

Poder Latinx remains steadfast in defending the rights and well-being of Latino communities. We will continue working with our partners across the nation to resist harmful policies, restore protections, and ensure our people are heard, respected, and empowered to lead.
