Statement from Poder Latinx on the House Coronavirus Relief Bill

Poder Latinx Stands in Support of Working and Immigrant Families and Excluding Corporate Execs and Wall Street from Federal Payout

WASHINGTON – Poder Latinx supports the latest proposal by House Democrats of the Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act that brings aid to the more than 300 million individuals living the effects of this devastating pandemic.

“We rebuke the unacceptable deal presented by House Republicans which ignores the millions of Dreamers, TPS holders, and undocumented families who are in greater need of access to testing, medical attention, and financial relief as a result of this pervasive outbreak,” said Yadira Sanchez, Co-Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “Excluding these groups would have devastating effects on overall relief efforts.”

“Poder Latinx stands with workers and immigrants during this time and applauds House Democrats for the work put in to introduce this new bill - which provides stronger provisions so that all are included in relief efforts no matter their financial or immigration status. Ensuring that the most vulnerable to the effects of this outbreak - many of whom are on the frontlines of this fight and at greatest risk of exposure - is the best way to prevent further spread,” said Sanchez.
