Poder Latinx Launches 2022 Voter Registration Campaign

WASHINGTON - As the country continues to struggle through the COVID-19 pandemic, Poder Latinx launches the Voter Registration Campaign, which conducts in-person and digital civic engagement and voter registration outreach operations to empower the Latinx vote for the upcoming midterm elections. Originally created in 2020 to close the gap in engagement and resources for the people of color and Latinx communities, the campaign focuses this year on helping Latinx register to vote, updating their voter registration information, and increasing Latinx voter turnout, starting this week in Arizona. This program will be complemented by digital campaigns that are driven by partners, artists, and influencers to promote voter registration. Poder Latinx aims to register over 32,000 voters in Arizona, Georgia, and Florida by the end of the 2022 campaign.

“Since the inception of our first voter registration program, Poder Latinx has engaged with the community and informed our community on how to vote and why it is key for our success. We have also followed the legislation and barriers that continue to be enacted against the Latinx community through voter suppression laws. We have taken an active role in fighting such barriers through legal battles against voter suppression laws and continued community empowerment by investing in programs that expand and educate the Latinx electorate. As the midterm elections approach, Poder Latinx is making every effort to ensure the Latinx electorate is prepared to cast a ballot through our early engagement efforts,” said Nancy Batista, field director of Poder Latinx, “Poder Latinx has been rigorously preparing to carry out this year’s ambitious program and taking the necessary precautions to engage with community members strategically. We aim to make meaningful connections with voters with whom we engage year-round and on off-election years. The Latinx voting bloc has been a historically untapped demographic by political campaigns. We are working to close that gap by registering voters, providing elections resources, and protecting voters at the polls. Together, our team has decades worth of experience in leading voter engagement efforts, and we are excited to see our programs come to fruition this year.”
