Poder Latinx Sends Delegation to Washington, D.C. to Demand a Pathway to Citizenship
WASHINGTON- Various staff members as well as Poderosa Fellows representing Poder Latinx have arrived in Washington, D.C. alongside other immigrant rights groups from across the United States to demand that a pathway to citizenship be delivered.
“Democratic senators and representatives campaigned on the promise of establishing a pathway to citizenship for immigrant communities across the United States throughout the 2020 election, while immigrants were serving our country as brave essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have registered and informed voters to build political power, and now delivery on the promise is expected,” said Adonias Arevalo, national organizing director for Poder Latinx.
“We are proud to have our team joining so many partners and allies in Washington, D.C. this week to be the voice for our community and fight for a pathway to citizenship. The Latinx community has been working on the issue of immigration reform for generations, it’s time for Congress to work with Latinxs- the largest minority voting bloc in the United States, to create a pathway to citizenship for ALL immigrants,” said Yadira Sanchez, co-executive director of Poder Latinx.
