Poder Latinx Remembers Pulse Victims, Reaffirms Solidarity with LGBTQ+ Community
ORLANDO, FL — On the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub tragedy, Poder Latinx stands in solemn remembrance of the 49 lives lost, their families, and all those forever impacted by the horrific act of violence. What happened in Orlando nine years ago was not only an attack on the LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities, it was an attack on love, inclusion, and the very diversity that defines and strengthens this nation.
As we mark this painful day, we recommit ourselves to building a country where every person can live freely, safely, and with dignity, regardless of who they are or who they love.
“The current administration is actively attempting to erase our progress and take us backward by advancing anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ policies, from restricting access to essential care and documentation to targeting those who serve our country. As we mark the anniversary of the Pulse tragedy, we are reminded that now, more than ever, we must continue to create and protect safe spaces where our community can find joy, love, and care”, said Adonías Arévalo, Chief of Staff of Poder Latinx.
Poder Latinx continues to advocate for policies that protect LGBTQ+ communities from violence, discrimination, and bigotry, and we urge all elected leaders to do the same.
