Poder Latinx Promotes AZ Staff Members During Critical Political Moment

PHOENIX – Poder Latinx is eager to announce the promotion of two incredible team members, Adonias Arevalo and Josue Andonaegui. Arevalo, formerly the Arizona state director, will be taking on the role of national organizing director, while former Arizona organizing coordinator Andonaegui will be taking on the role of Arizona state director. Thanks to their efforts, our Arizona team has taken a critical lead in the fight against SB 1485 and other voter suppression proposals. With these role advancements, Poder Latinx hopes to greatly expand its presence in Arizona and continue building on the longstanding work the team has done on protecting the Latinx vote.

“Our team is rapidly growing to meet the needs of the communities we serve. We are excited to promote from within and Ado and Josue have proven themselves to be able to effectively lead critical programs that bring about positive and much needed change for our communities. I look forward to seeing the lasting impact of their work in Arizona as each of them succeed in their new roles,” said Esteban Garces, co-executive director at Poder Latinx.

Arevalo has been organizing in various spaces for the last decade, primarily to advance a pathway to citizenship for undocumented youth, a very personal issue for him. His passion for his community shines through in his work and his tireless commitment to advancing the team at Poder Latinx has helped build a strong presence within the Latinx community in Arizona and beyond.

“I am incredibly excited to continue utilizing my skills here at Poder Latinx on the national level. Our commitment to the year-round organizing of our community depends on keeping familiar faces around to continue our efforts. I’m proud to continue fighting with Poder Latinx for immigrant, environmental, and economic justice,” said Adonias Arevalo, national organizing director at Poder Latinx.

In addition to years of organizing experience, Andonaegui’s background centers around behavioral health and international policy law. His wide range of experience has allowed him to bring a very specific skillset to the Arizona team, making him able to establish creative solutions to difficult concepts.

“Organizing the Latinx community here in Arizona has been the greatest honor. I cannot wait to expand on the work that Adonias and the rest of our team have built here and continue making change for our community,” said Josue Andonaegui, Arizona state director for Poder Latinx.

“We are pleased to be expanding our team’s reach with these new roles. We are confident that Adonias and Josue will build these roles to fit the needs of our growing organization and continue defending Arizona’s voters,” said Yadira Sanchez, co-executive director of Poder Latinx.
