Poder Latinx Celebrates Seven Years of Building Latino Political Power and Community Leadership
National nonprofit marks a milestone by reaffirming its commitment to civic participation, environmental justice, and the next generation of Latino leaders.
NATIONAL - Poder Latinx is celebrating seven years of empowering Latino communities to lead, organize, and shape the future of American democracy. Since its founding in 2019, the organization has grown into a national force for civic engagement, leadership development, and advocacy, working to ensure that Latino communities, immigrants, and communities of color have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
Over the past seven years, Poder Latinx has expanded its footprint across seven states, registering and engaging thousands of eligible voters, training emerging leaders, organizing communities around issues such as immigration, climate resilience, economic and environmental justice, and energy affordability, and creating innovative programs that strengthen civic participation year-round. Building on its strong track record, this year the organization also became the new home of the National Vote Early Day civic holiday, further strengthening its role as a national leader in expanding voter education and participation.
“Seven years of Poder Latinx is a testament to what is possible when communities come together with purpose, determination, and power,” said Yadira Sánchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx. “We founded Poder Latinx because we believed our communities deserved more than a seat at the table: they deserved the power to build the table. Seven years later, we’ve seen firsthand what happens when Latino communities are informed, organized, and empowered: they lead, they vote, they advocate, and they transform their neighborhoods. As we look ahead, our commitment is stronger than ever. We will continue investing in leaders, defending our communities, and ensuring that every Latino family has the opportunity to help shape a more just, equitable, and inclusive future.”
The anniversary comes at a pivotal moment as Latino communities continue navigating rising costs, extreme weather, immigration challenges, and the lead-up to the 2026 midterm elections. Poder Latinx remains committed to equipping communities with the tools, resources, and leadership opportunities needed to address today's challenges while strengthening democracy for future generations.
From its nationally recognized Poderosas Fellowship and leadership summits to innovative initiatives like EcoPoder and community-based voter engagement efforts, Poder Latinx continues to expand opportunities for civic participation while addressing the issues that matter most to Latino families.
As the organization enters its eighth year, Poder Latinx will continue investing in community leadership, building partnerships across the country, and empowering the next generation of changemakers to create lasting impact at the local, state, and national levels.
