During Latino Conservation Week, Poder Latinx Demands Climate Action
NATIONWIDE - Latino Conservation Week is celebrated at the end of every July, falling the week of July 16-24 this year. Since 2014, this annual celebration seeks to engage the Latinx community in playing a critical role in environmental stewardship. Latino Conservation Week encourages Latinxs to go outdoors and participate in conservation efforts to protect Madre Tierra’s natural resources.
Poder Latinx has released the following statement on Latino Conservation Week:
“The Latinx community has been at the forefront of the environmental movement and now we are making our voices heard. Our community has proven a cross-generational commitment to conservation efforts and we are asking elected officials to do their part. We need bold action to mitigate climate change and match the rate of destruction our planet is increasingly being threatened with. We want to leave Madre Tierra an inhabitable place for future generations to enjoy. During this Latino Conservation Week, Poder Latinx is counting on reconciliation for critical climate reforms,” said Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx.

Poder Latinx is dedicated to building a sustained progressive voting bloc of Latinx voters in battleground states across the country. We do this by leading a voter-integrated engagement program where all aspects of voter engagement, issue-based campaigns, leadership development, voting reform and protection, and narrative change form a continuous cycle of political consciousness. Through our work, we empower and equip the Latinx community to become agents of change now.
