GEORGIA POWER UP!
In recent years, Georgia has been faced with critical election cycles- one after the other, and the Latinx community in the state has proven to be a key voting bloc in each of those elections. As we prepare for local elections and the upcoming 2024 Presidential election, we are launching Georgia Power Up!, which aims to bridge the gap between democracy and the workforce hired to mobilize Latinx voters. Our goal is also to shed light on the growing Latinx electorate and equip more Latinxs to be the leaders we hire to run those campaigns. We envision mobilizing the Latinx community to vote by building a workforce brimming with talent from the same places we serve.
Georgia Power Up! will largely center around the foundation that campaigns led by people we intend to mobilize are integral to building an inclusive democracy. Our program consists of events geared towards 1) educating the Latinx communities on how to register voters, 2) educating and improving the process for how we connect with hard-to-reach communities, and 3) leading civic engagement activities to ensure that every voter is able to use the ballot box to shape the future of their communities.
Georgia Power Up! participants will receive their training online with supplemental in-person practice on the ground, including 3 hours of voter registration training. Upon completion, participants will receive a free t-shirt and a $100 stipend and be asked to complete a survey of their experience. Sign up here!
